Sharpness shootout: 21mm Limited vs 50mm Macro

Best of Pentax Forums March 22 Podcast

I was shooting the Pentex 17 with the new Harman 120 RED film on Grapevine’s Main Street and had with me my Pentex K3 Mark III Monochrome with the Pentex DFA 50mm F2.8 macro.

I thought it would be interesting to use the Monochrome to shoot images of the sidewalk judge statue similar to the ones I’d taken with the HD Pentax-D FA 21mm F2.4 ED Limited DC WR and then compare them.

Now these are two very different lenses. The 21 Limited is a mild wide angle on the Monochrome’s APS-C format, while the 50 Macro is a short telephoto. But while they're both renowned for their sharpness, they're at very different price points. The Limited is one of the most expensive lenses Pentax currently sells; Macro is at a much more modest price point.

So take a look and see what you think!
